Tell us a little bit about yourself and how you got into this business?
I started reselling while working a full-time retail job. I would resell during my 2 days off and the hours became very stressful on the family; So in 2016, I decided to transition full-time to reselling. I knew that I needed to make enough money to support everything so I started off putting in more time than I did at my 9-5 retail job because I was trying to grow something from scratch.
And over the past few years my business has grown. Today, I have a warehouse and employees. I’ve learned the importance of being organized and having ambition — wanting it more than the next person. If you’re chasing the money you’re not doing it for the right reasons. The motivator isn’t money, it’s growth.
Tell us what a typical work week looks like for you.
Balancing my business and family life can be tough because I’m always on the grind. I’m always strategizing the perfect times to grow my business and try to get things done while the kids are at school.
What does your relationship with BULQ look like?
I’ve been sourcing with BULQ for a few years now– they make it easy and give people like myself the opportunity to to grow. I’m on their site daily, at 11 am, 2 pm, and 5 pm to nab shipments and get what I want. I also love the BULQ promise – I know they’ll always have my back if an issue comes up.
What type of inventory do you typically buy?
I started off sourcing lower-end merchandise. Because of my background in retail, I have a good understanding of seasonality and when to buy merchandise. I know that toys will always sell and I enjoy sourcing that category. I know to buy for future seasons when prices are low and I need the cash flow.
Where do you sell your inventory?
eBay and Amazon.
What are your business goals?
I’m always looking to grow my business. I believe that my past experiences in retail and running multiple stores and 100’s of employees as a General Manager has helped set me up for what I’m doing now and my future growth.
If you could give one piece of advice to someone just getting started in the reselling industry what would it be?
My advice would be to find a niche that works well for you; you’ll have bad buys, don’t let it discourage you; For me, it’s about starting from scratch and making something that you’re proud of.
Nice story. Sounds great. What advice would you give to someone who hasn’t started yet but is hurting to start?
