Pack your bags – it’s time to set your 2019 seller trade show and conference schedule! If you’ve never attended a seller-focused conference or trade show before, you’re neglecting a sneaky-good opportunity to learn about and grow your reselling business.
While there are many benefits of taking part in these events, resellers primarily attend to 1) explore new inventory sources and 2) add value to their app-based selling channels (like eBay, Amazon, and Poshmark), and 3) network. Conferences and trade shows are full of great opportunities to meet face-to-face with both suppliers and other resellers, giving attendees the chance to check out different inventory options and chat with peers who can help answer questions, provide tips and tricks, and give advice from experiences that might not be available online.
But, how do you know which events are best for your business? Check out our rundown of a few of this year’s most talked-about trade shows and conferences to find out.
Affordable Shopping Destination (ASD) Market Week
Dates: March 17-20, 2019 and July 28-August 1, 2019
Location: Las Vegas, NV
Cost: Early registration is free, $40 if you register at the door
The Affordable Shopping Destination trade show, more commonly referred to as ASD MarketWeek or just “ASD,” is one of the most comprehensive trade shows for consumer merchandise in the United States. Twice a year, more than 2,700 vendors and 45,000 buyers come together to offer and explore the world’s widest variety of retail merchandise. Sellers can find great wholesale prices on an array of products, as well as participate in hundreds of educational seminars on subjects such as conquering Amazon, scaling an eBay business, and more.
Pro Tip: Since ASD is located in the enormous Las Vegas Convention Center, avoid exhibitor overload by mapping out which booths to visit. Check out the vendors directory to plan ahead of time (don’t forget to visit BULQ’s booth in March!), and download the free ASD app to stay on track during the event.
Dates: May 15-17, 2019
Location: Miami, FL
Described as “the ultimate e-commerce learning experience,” Sellers Summit uses knowledge, rather than success stories, to inspire resellers to grow their businesses. The event is an intense two-day workshop that provides up-to-date seller knowledge and curriculum-based information to help e-commerce entrepreneurs manage and scale their online businesses.
The conference accommodates all seller types by dividing into two main tracks: 1) selling on Amazon and 2) establishing your own brand. Each of these paths provide tailored information to give attendees clear understanding of the best strategy to take their business’s sales to the next level.
Pro Tip: This conference is primarily focused on Amazon selling, so come prepared with goals for growing your Amazon business and seek the advice of experts or other attendees. If you don’t sell on Amazon or it isn’t your primary focus, you might be better off attending a different, more general event.
NARTS (National Association of Resale Professionals)
Dates: June 28-July 1, 2019
Location: Columbus, OH
Cost: To be announced
Founded in 1984, NARTS originally consisted of five members who wanted to discuss the possibility of a resale and thrift shop association. Fast forward to today, NARTS now has 1,100 registered members and is dedicated to providing educational and professional development tools for resellers across the country.
While NARTS holds monthly meetings across the U.S., their premiere event is their annual conference- a four day gathering that includes hands-on workshops, networking events, and social mixers. The location of the event moves to a different city each year, giving sellers from all regions a chance to attend at their convenience.
Registration for the 2019 conference isn’t open yet, but check back on NARTS’ website for updates.
Pro Tip: Don’t miss SourceMart, the conference’s 4 hour vendor market that occurs between noon and 4pm on the final day.

Location: Las Vegas, NV
Cost: Early registration $275, Regular rate $399
If you sell on eBay and are looking to grow your business, eBay Open is a must-attend event. Branded as eBay’s “seller event of the year,” participants have the opportunity to network at nightly mixers and parties, chat with suppliers, and attend informational sessions with eBay executives.
From sellers who are just getting started, to those running million-dollar businesses, this event attracts eBay sellers of all sizes and backgrounds. Unlike other trade shows or conferences, Open only allows a select group of sponsored vendors to participate, which means all suppliers and service providers at the event are organizations you can trust. With vendors including payment services, merchandise sources, and software selling tools, you’re bound to find something new to help advance your reselling business.
Registration for 2019 isn’t open just yet, but be sure to keep checking eBay Open’s website for updates.
Pro Tip: The final day of Open features a keynote address from a well-known speaker in the industry, so be sure to get a good seat for this closing event. Also, be sure to visit BULQ’s booth during your visit, we’d love to see you!
Dates: October 16-18, 2019
Location: Elk Grove Village, IL
Cost: Early registration: Free, Regular rate $45
EcomChicago brings together online sellers and entrepreneurs for two days of action-packed learning and networking. Each year, the event attracts 200-300 sellers of all levels of experience, including aspiring novices, high-grossing resale rockstars and everyone in between. The ideas and strategies from the educational and networking sessions alone make the return on investment for this conference incredible. If you’re in the Midwest area, this is a conference you don’t want to miss.
Pro Tip: This event in particular brings together a fun and light-hearted group that’s ready to learn, share, and celebrate together. In the past, attendees have enjoyed karaoke parties, raffles, and free giveaways, so get to know conference goers ahead of time by connecting with the community on Facebook.
A Few More Tips…
Before you travel to these or any other industry conferences or trade shows, it may be worth considering a few final questions to ensure you’re making the most of your time:
- What products are you looking to source?
- How will you divide your time between sourcing at booths and learning at educational sessions and meet-ups?
- What are your networking goals?
- If you’re active on social media, is there a hashtag for the event? How can you use it to join the conversation while you’re there?
