How to Create an Unboxing Video

Unboxing videos have taken off as one of the top ways customers share their brand experiences with the Youtube community. There are over 72 million unboxing videos on Youtube alone, and there’s no sign that consumers are slowing down. For potential and current resellers, BULQ®’s unboxing videos are a great source of education into how sourcing, BULQ, and the reselling industry at-large work.

So how do you get started with your own unboxing video? Once you purchase your inventory, there are 4 easy steps to create and share your unboxing experience with the reselling community:

1. Be sure to have the right technology

If you’ve decided to create your own unboxing video, you’ll need a few essential devices to record and share your content. While some individuals choose to use more high-tech devices such as digital or DSLR cameras and mics for their videos, the easiest way to make and upload an unboxing video is to use your smartphone. iPhone and Android cameras are often great tools for shooting videos on the fly. And at the end of the day, your viewers are often only looking for an unboxing video that is steadily filmed (a tripod often does the trick) and has clear audio (be sure to position your phone’s mic towards whomever is speaking).

2. Be Authentic

Authenticity can easily upgrade a good unboxing video to a great one. Regardless of your experience, being upfront about your initial impressions will go a long way with viewers. Recording your unboxing video in real-time is also a great way to build trust with the Youtube community. And most importantly, your transparency will allow potential resellers to gauge whether or not a particular liquidation source or inventory category/condition will be right for them. If you happen to post an unboxing video that is sponsored by a company, be sure to let you audience know either in the video description or in the introduction.

3. Engage with your viewers

Rather than simply sharing your unboxing experience with the Youtube community, consider engaging with your viewers by asking for their opinions and whether they have any questions. By opening up a dialogue with your viewers, you’re likely to increase engagement and even come up with ideas for future video content.

4. Share on Youtube!

When using your desktop, you simply log into Youtube (be sure to create an account first, if you haven’t already), click on Upload at the top of the page, choose the video you’d like to upload from your computer, and click Publish to finish uploading a public video to YouTube.

If you decide to upload your video directly from your iPhone, iPad, or Android device you simply sign in to YouTube and your desired channel, tap the camera at the top of the home page, adjust your video’s title, description, and privacy settings, and tap Upload.
